You’re on your phone trying to change something in your event but it’s just not working.
Maybe you want to fix the name, adjust the vote price, or shift the date. But no matter what you tap, nothing seems to respond.
This guide explains why some edits are blocked once voting starts and what you can do instead right from your phone.
What You Can’t Change Once the Event Is Live
When your event is approved and marked as ongoing, a few things become locked for good reason.
Here’s what you can no longer edit:
- The name of the event
- The vote cost
- The slug or event link
- The start date
Let’s quickly go over why these parts are locked:
Event name
Every name is reviewed before publishing. If it changes after approval, it may no longer match the original review.
Vote cost
Changing this during voting could create an unfair advantage. Some people might have paid more than others.
Slug or link
Your link is already being shared. Changing it means people might not find your event anymore.
Start date
Once voting begins, the timeline must stay the same. Changing the date could lead to confusion or unfair voting results.
What You Can Do Instead (3 Options)
1. Reach Out to VoteNaija Support
Tap the menu icon at the top of your screen and go to Contact.
You can explain what happened and see if the support team can help. They handle special cases and will let you know what’s possible.
2. Create a New Event If Needed
If the locked part you want to fix is too important to ignore, the best option may be to start fresh.
Tap the menu button, go to Manage Events, then scroll and tap Create New Event. This lets you reset everything the right way.
3. Edit the Parts That Are Still Open
You might not need a full reset. If all you want is to update the banner, rewrite the event description, or extend the end date, you can still do that.
Go to your event, swipe sideways to find the pen icon, and tap it. These small edits can still make your event better.
Wrapping Up
Some changes are blocked once an event is live because they affect how people vote and how your event runs.
That helps keep everything fair and trusted.
But even on your phone, you still have clear options. You can contact support, start a new event, or edit what’s allowed.
Just take your time and pick the option that works best for your situation.
