Planning your event carefully is one thing. Letting it go live too soon is another.
If you’re still putting things together, the last thing you want is for the event to be published before you’re ready. This guide walks you through how to keep things in draft until everything is complete.
Step 1: Open Your Dashboard
Start by logging into your VoteNaija account.
Tap the menu icon and go to My Events.
Step 2: Create a New Event
Go to the My Events page.
From that page, tap the Create New Event button.
Fill out the form with your event name, description, banner, voting price, and important dates.
When you’re done, make sure to save it as draft. That keeps the event private while you work on it.
Pro tip: When picking a start date for your event, try not to set it too close.
Once that start date hits, VoteNaija will automatically publish your event. At that point, making changes becomes difficult without reaching out to support. So give yourself enough time to review and finalise everything before it goes live.
Step 3: Add Contestants
After saving the event, you’ll be asked whether to add contestants now or later.
Choose whichever works for you.
If your contestants’ names, bios, and photos are ready, go ahead and start adding them. If not, you can come back to this later.
Once you begin, pay attention to the next part.
Step 4: Tap Save and Add Another
Each time you add a contestant, you’ll see two buttons
- Save and Add Another
- Publish Event
To stay in control, tap Save and Add Another until you’re fully ready.
As soon as you add at least two contestants, the Publish Event button becomes active. Tapping it sends your event for approval. Once approved, your event goes live and voting can start immediately.
There’s no way to undo this from your dashboard. If anything goes wrong, you’ll need to contact the VoteNaija team.
So this step really matters.
Final Words
It’s better to go slow and get it right than rush into publishing something unfinished.
Use the draft mode as much as you need and double check every detail.
Once you’re sure your event is complete, then you can hit publish and launch with confidence.
That way, everything goes smoothly from the start.
