You’ve already published your event but now you want to change something.
How do you go about it
That’s exactly what this guide will help you with. You’ll learn what can be updated and what can no longer be touched once your event is live.
What Can You Change in an Ongoing Event
When an event is marked as ongoing, it means it has been published and approved. Voting is already live.
But you still have control over a few parts
Here is what you can change
- The description of your event
- The event banner
- The end date of the event
Here is what you cannot change
- The event name
- The vote cost
- The slug or unique link
- The start date
Now that you know what’s editable and what’s not, let’s go through the steps you will follow to make your updates.
Step 1: Go to Manage Events in Your Dashboard
Log into your VoteNaija account.
Click on the manage events option from the dashboard menu.
Step 2: Choose an Ongoing Event
Look through your list of events and select the one that shows the ongoing status.
That tells you the event is live and active.
Step 3: Click on the Pen Icon
Next to the event title, you will see a small pen icon.
Click it to open the event editor.
Step 4: Update Your Event Details
Now you can edit the parts that are still open to updates.
Click on the description field, banner image section, or the end date box. Make the changes you need.
You will not be able to touch anything else.
Step 5: Save the Changes
After making your changes, scroll down and click the save changes button.
Everything you updated will now reflect on the live event page.
Final Words
You may wonder why some things cannot be changed once an event is ongoing. The reason is simple. Once people start voting, changing key details like the name or vote cost could cause confusion or unfairness.
That is why VoteNaija locks down those parts to protect the event’s fairness and transparency.
So while you cannot change everything, you still have enough control to keep your event fresh and up to date.
